Asuntohotelli/Hostel Aallon Maja is located in Sunila area, Kotka, Finland.
Sunila is well known all over the world because it's architecture: Finland's most famous architect ever - Alvar Aalto - has designed the Sunila Pulp Mill and many other buildings like Aallon Maja, too.
In the hostel we have:
- 13 rooms
- beds for 45 persons
- self service kitchen
- sauna
- shower rooms and toilets for common use
- big conference room for over 20 persons
- Internet (WiFi) free to use
- BBQ area
- free parking on the front yard
On the hostel's property we have "Cultural Cave" - an old bomb shelter - which has been made during the World War II in 1943. It is an exhibition and performance space of 150 m2.
Asuntohotelli/Hostel Aallon Maja is on the second floor. On the first floor we have Art Café Aino, where we serve breakfast, as well. There you can find tens of paintings and other pieces of art for suveniers and gifts.
About 500 m from the hotel we have two apartments - Apteekki and Pankki suites. They have 2 - 3 rooms and are bouths suitable for groups and families of 4 - 8 persons.
Between the apartments we have our art shop Galleria Merilä. There are hundreds of paintings, graphics, drawings etc. It is the biggest art shop in Kotka - Hamina area. Our Art Director, artist Raija Merilä, is working there every now and then.
The owner of the company Aallon Maja is Mr. Ilkka Porkka. He has an other hostel - Asuntohotelli Hotel Petkele - in Hamina, 20 km from Aallon Maja to the east.
